How To Prep For A Curly Cut

How To Prepare For A Curly Cut!

Do’s & Don’ts

Preparing your hair for a curly cut is probably something curly haired peeps don’t think about when scheduling their appointment with a salon. Taking the time to learn the do’s and don’ts before a curly cut appointment can really make a difference in the end results.

Arriving to your appointment with your curls in their most natural state will allow your stylist to clearly see how your hair falls, and how much spring is in your curls. This will help your stylist make the best decision on how to perform the cut and how much length is needed to take off.

Ensure Your Hair Is Completely DRY!

Do not arrive to your appointment with wet hair! Extra fees may apply if your hair needs to be dried prior to the curly service booked. Your curly specialist needs to be able to see your hair in its most natural state and how it lays in order to cut your hair properly. Also, it is recommended that you arrive with your hair down. No ponytails, hats, bobby pins, hair ties, or any other piece that may alter your natural curl pattern or cause a dent.

Cleansed & Clarified

Shampoo hair at least one week prior to your appointment. If possible, with a clarifying shampoo. That way there will be no previous product build up or excess oil build up. We need your hair in its most natural state.

Conditioned & Detangled

Thoroughly condition and detangle hair prior to prior to arrival. Extra fees may be applied if you come in with super matted hair. It will make the process of a curly cut much smoother in the long run without having to detangle curls prior to a dry curly cut.

Refrain From Using Styling Products

Please arrive to your appointment with your hair styled as naturally as possible, using minimal products, such as a leave-in cream or spray, to accentuate your pattern. Stay away from styling products that are excessively sticky, greasy, or oily. These products will weigh your curls down and block out moisture. So, just use something light weight so your hair is in a lovely and natural state!

Open Your Mind To Love Your Natural Hair!

The curl specialist will be cutting your hair in a way that will maximize your curls, so it may be a little different from cuts you’ve had before. Be ready to GET CURLY and enjoy the experience.

Reminder: If you are going to wear your hair curly, it must be cut in the way you wear it for optimal results.

It’s understandable that not everyone will have the opportunity to visit a curl specialist. Following the above tips when visiting any salon will help you receive a better cut as they really give the curl specialist the opportunity to understand your curls before cutting them.
